About the painting
Gibson Beach is painted on an old tablecloth with a windowpane check, which is visible through thinner sections of paint. Painted with diluted layers of acrylic, this piece highlights dense beachgrass and vibrant flowers found on the Sagaponack beach. It captures a stretch of time I spent on the east end of Long Island. Panicked about life after quarentine and closing out my 20s, I was mostly observing and not making very much. With time and space, I've made some of my favorite work reflecting back on this this transistional period.
